In 1996, Dr. Park built the Pyong Yang Third Hospital, a 500 bed facility in the North Korean capitol of Pyong Yang, North Korea. Two years later, he and his medical colleagues were the first foreign medical team to ever perform surgery in North Korea since it had become a sovereign nation. Pyong Yang Third Hospital serves a population radius of 1 million North Korean citizens. It is known as “The People’s Hospital” and employs over 400 physicians.
SAM-Care International will be creating a medical network between the Dan Dong Hospital and the Pyong Yang Third Hospital to help buttress the vacuous North Korean medical infrastructure.
